It's another season and time for another platform release! As with any intermediate platform release, these are designed to test new technology. Such platforms are smaller, short-lived, and potentially more temperamental early on. Testing platforms inevitably lead to a better hosting experience for not only itself but its successors and sometimes descendants with panel backports.Luna was the last testing platform and ushered in overlayfs + event MPM, which improved latency.
Delta, a v7.5 platform, separates itself entirely from Ensim and is the first platform built 100% start to finish on Hostineer (or Apis, if you go that far back). I'm in process of rewriting site creation/deletion/edit hooks that power site management with an internal deadline of April 1. Following that, it'll be 2 weeks of closed platform testing with an open beta beginning April 15.
Proposed changes include:
- Any-version Go
- PostgreSQL 10
- MariaDB 10.3
- PHP 7.2
- ProxySQL, disbanding query caching, dependent upon benchmarks
- Automation through playbooks, this affects provisioning and service rollouts - will be backported to Helios (v5)
- rspamd. SpamAssassin efficacy is diminished. Network lookups are blocking. Throughput is terrible. rspamd is event-driven (like Node, like MPMs on Luna/Atlas). It uses a Bayes classifier derivative that, at least on paper, yields a higher true positive and lower false negative than its cohorts. This will be a topic keenly investigated on Delta.
Beyond these essentials, I'm open to other suggestions. Let me know what comes across your mind! I'd like to close out feature requests by April 8.
