Static asset response caching
One more thing to test out, while Luna is still quiet, is static asset caching: header + data. JS, CSS, and images shouldn't change at all - and if they do, they'll send a no-cache header along with the response. For every other static asset though, we can save time by short-circuiting the processing axis and serving up a cached response.
Long-term implications, specifically with weird WordPress themes that don't follow convention remain to be seen. Let's get it a test and see what else can be squeezed out of Luna performance-wise.
