Hello,
Having trouble getting my avatar gallery to display. Here's what I HAVE done:
- did a CHMOD of the avatar folder to 777 (recommended by Matt earlier - did this and it hasn't helped)
- created the subfolders correctly - they do match the default in the admin panel.
It's winnipegearlymusic.com
Location is /home/kevinscott/mainwebsite_html/images/avatars/gallery (although in the configuration panel of the admin area the avatar gallery path is truncated at images/avatars/gallery).
It's PHPBB version 2.0.20.
Hope you can assist!
What error message is phpBB spitting out? I can change the permissions around recursively on avatars/ to apache-owned, but somehow I don't think that directory is the issue here.

Hi,
No error message at all. I ftp the avatar pictures to the gallery subdirectory which I appear to have correctly created - no problem - then when I go to the user profile area when logged in to the forum and click the "show gallery" button, there's nothing displaying.
According to the tutorial I followed, the category of avatar should display but you can't select anything - it's blank.
So when you said you read the manual, in reality you didn't. Avatar galleries reside underneath a directory in avatars/gallery/soandso/ -- http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=28

No, I did it correctly. In fact, I referenced the same set of instructions you sent above.
Configuration page says they should reside under images/avatars/gallery.
I didn't just stick the avatars in the "gallery" subdirectory. I created ANOTHER subdirectory for the avatars under "Gallery" (can't remember the name of it now since I can't FTP the server at the moment). I know that if I wanted a bunch of dog avatars, I'd have to put them in a "Dogs" gallery, etc.
I've been through all this already when it came to uploading different styles, which is done the same way - had no problem whatsoever with that.
It worked fine for me. Here:
[kernel gallery]# ls
index.htm test
[kernel gallery]# ls -la test/*
-rw-rw-r--+ 1 admin126 admin126 9318 Dec 12 18:29 test/phpbb.jpg
And if you check the gallery section the phpBB logo is there.

Bizarre. You were able to create a "test" directory and I can't seem to do the very same thing.
I can't FTP in there at the moment but I'll poke around some more when I can get connected and report back. Thanks.
The wonders of root. Anyway updated ACLs on the directory and you should be able to make them now.

Problem solved.
Couldn't see your "test" directory anywhere, so I backed up a couple directories...
The whole structure didn't exist under the "Forum" directory (which I SWEAR I didn't see before...) so that's where I'll place it.
Thanks.
