It would be nice to have apisnetworks have a favicon (especially for the cpanel URLs) since it makes it really easy to distinguish them on a bookmark toolbar or in a bookmark folder. On my toolbar I even have a few bookmarks with just the icon as it suffices.
-- Matt's notes:
This will be an open contest for all users to participate in. Design a favicon (16x16 image that appears next to the page's title) for both Apis' main site and the control panel, esprit, and win $50 for each so long as they are unique. If one favicon is used for both the main site and the control panel, then it will be one $50 prize. The contest ends on November 8, 2006 at 12:00 AM EDT (-0400 GMT).
I'm open to any ideas. Design one and I'll use it for esprit and Apis Networks and throw in a $50 prize for each if they're good.

Here are some ideas:
Using the text-logo:

Using a crab:

Different color crab:

EDIT:
If this is going to be done to be compliant with IE6 (that is to say, using a 16 color .ico (I know at least Firefox allows the use of other image types and colors) the "a" might need to be tweaked).
The lowercase a doesn't say a whole lot unless you can draw the association between the style of the a and Apis Networks' logo. The crab would be a better candidate, but would need to be pixelated a bit in order to be easily discernible. I'll go ahead and turn this into a two week contest and post a note in the control panel. We'll see what users can churn out and hopefully come up with a nice favicon.

The only problem with the crab is it's really hard to make one discernable with such small image proportions to work with. Also, what do you have in mind when you say making the crab "pixelated a bit"?
Another color scheme:

And one with eyes, which when zoomed out don't really look like eyes but make it look more details (plus a little shading)

I'm not sure whether a pixelated crab would be discernible at that resolution, so disregard that suggestion. Of course this contest isn't intended to be easy, because I would offer a much smaller prize if that were the case. Anyway have at it, come up with some icons you would like to see appear next to Apis Networks' name and that fit the theme. The best design wins, which so far appears you are defaulting as the victor.

Well if you don't like them that much then you don't have to pay :) I just want a nice little icon on my toolbar.
If you could be a little more specific about what you're looking for I may be able to cook something else up, but so far those are the only ideas that I've got.

This is hard.. here are a few attempts.
A crabby one, an esprit CP one and a apns one - all very basic. :)
I shall see if I come up with anymore ideas in the next day or so.

For the sake of comparison, do you have a version of crab.gif with a transparent background? Drop me a PM with your PayPal address as well, you've won the contest.

oo really? That's great.
Thanks :) Here is a transparent version - I can't decide which I prefer actually. :)
I shall PM you now. :)
I'll play around with the transparent image and see what works best for both this site and esprit. There will probably be another logo designing contest in roughly six months from now as well. Thanks and enjoy the prize :).
