You should be fixed now. Sounds like you added the domain to MDM and then removed it without synchronizing changes.

Okay, it's doing it again. It seems to do it whenever the control panel has timed out, but I don't realize it - ie, window is still open, and I enter a domain name/info. Once I do that, it kicks me back to login. Once I log back in, it tells me I can't use that domain name I just entered previously, and synchronize changes doesn't seem to do anything.

Interesting, I think you may have just helped track down that elusive bug. It will automatically log you out after 15 minutes of inactivity, but it shouldn't cause that error. I will need to double check on the development server with a low idle timeout.

I have removed the dangling domain at this time, so you should be good to go again.
