I'm horribly new at all this ftp stuff. I'm trying to upload my website, but the FTP login is not working for me. I'm trying to connect to gauss.apisnetworks.com, , but whenever I try to connect using smartftp, it hangs. When I try to go through old IE, it says that i'm entering an incorecct hostname, or that the host can not be found. I'm certain i've entered my user name and password correctly.

What am I doing wrong? I'm probably forgetting some obvious thing, keep in mind i'm completely new to this. Dont laugh too hard.

Thank you!

Your login should be <user>@<domain name>, not just your username. If the domain name isn't working, it sounds like DNS hasn't propagated yet for your domain. New domains typically resolve within the hour, but the process can take up to 24 hours (the old standard was 24 - 72 hours). If your domain is ending in a .ws, then expect a 24 hour delay for DNS to propagate.

I wouldn't recommend IE as an FTP client since IE handles the FTP rather poorly. In fact, you won't be able to upload your Web site to the proper directory, because IE cannot display symbolic links nor relative paths (when logging in). If that doesn't clear up the problem, PM me your domain name and login that you are using.
